Since the mid-1980s, Parma has been celebrating its most famous son with the annual Verdi Festival in October, the month of his birth. Parma, the beautiful medieval city in Emilia Romagna and culinary heart of Italy, is predestined for all lovers of the fine arts and presents itself to its visitors with wonderful venues. Girolamo Magnani was a set designer and decorator and created a number of sets for Giuseppe Verdi’s operas. Busseto, the birthplace and home of the master, with its little gem called Teatro Verdi is also a “must” - the programme includes “Un ballo in maschera”.
