In the Lied genre, soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, born in 1993, won the Song Prize at the prestigious BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2021 and was subsequently acclaimed by audiences and critics at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Liù in "Turandot" and at the Theater Bern, where she was an ensemble member for two seasons, as Mathilde in "Guillaume Tell" and in the title role of "Iphigénie en Tauride". In addition to her outstanding voice, her refreshingly unpretentious character makes this likeable artist a new rising star in the classical music firmament. (as of November 2023)
