Roberto Alagna, born in 1963 in Clichy-sous-Bois, is a French tenor of Sicilian origin. Self-taught, he began his career singing in cabarets and at weddings before winning the prestigious Luciano Pavarotti competition in 1988. He quickly established himself on the world’s greatest stages, including Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, and La Scala in Milan. His repertoire ranges from bel canto to the major roles of Verdi and Puccini, which he performs with remarkable dramatic intensity. He is also known for his fondness for popular music and Neapolitan songs. Married to soprano Aleksandra Kurzak, he forms with her a duo much appreciated by opera audiences.
