Yuja Wang
Yuia Wang is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating concert pianists of our time, combining technical precision, exhilarating virtuosity and energetic stage presence with seeming ease. Born in Beijing in 1987, Wang moved to Canada with her family at the age of 14 to study at the Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary. In 2002, she moved to Philadelphia to study at the Curtis Institute of Music under Gary Graffman. The pianist launched her international career in 2007 when she stepped in for Martha Argerich - a year before she finished her studies.
Since then, Yuia Wang has been an extremely welcome guest on all the world’s great stages, and her repertoire includes major piano concertos with orchestra as well as intimate soloist recitals and chamber music. She has worked with maestros such as Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Franz Welser-Möst. Her close chamber music partners include Leonidas Kavakos (violin), Gautier Capuçon (cello) and Matthias Goerne (bass-baritone).
The pianist is under contract with Deutsche Grammophon.
