Renaud Capuçon

Renaud Capuçon was born on January 27, 1976 in Chambéry, he entered the conservatory of his hometown at the age of 4, then joined the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris at the age of 14 in Gérard Poulet’s class. Renaud Capuçon came out three years later with a first prize for chamber music and a first prize for violin. Renaud Capuçon joined the Youth Orchestra of the European Economic Community, then the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra as first violin under the direction of Claudio Abbado. In 1996, he founded a festival in La Ravoire, near Chambéry and in 2013 Renaud Capuçon created the Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival, of which he is artistic director. Renaud Capuçon is also artistic director of the Festival des Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad since 2016.
